Biography

Beginning her legal career with the Midland County District Attorney’s Office, Kara gained nearly a decade of case management and trial preparation experience by prosecuting thousands of cases ranging from misdemeanors, such as domestic violence and driving while intoxicated, up to serious felonies, such as aggravated sexual assault, murder, and capital murder. While Kara amassed extensive courtroom experience with over 40 jury trials during her time as a public servant, her passion for advocacy outside of the courtroom in the areas of research and writing on complex legal issues grew exponentially when she joined the District Attorney’s appellate division. Kara continues to advocate for our clients on the appellate level today after joining Ward & Myers in June of 2023.

Kara’s extensive and valuable trial experience allows her to ensure that clients of Ward & Myers, LLP are well-informed, prepared, and confident when they step into the court room. She assists on all of Partner Charles Myer’s cases with a focus on motion practice, legal research, and trial preparation. As the firm’s designated Discovery attorney, Kara assists clients in responding to complex discovery demands in addition to carefully crafting discovery requests for the opposing party to ensure that no stone is left unturned in your case.

VOLUNTEER WORK

After years of experience advocating for survivors of abuse and sexual assault in the criminal justice system, Kara now participates as a Hospital Companion & Hotline Volunteer for the Midland Children’s Advocacy and Rape Crisis Center.

Kara also enjoys volunteering with the Rotary Club of Midland West and the Museum of the Southwest, serving on the Christmas at the Mansion committee
